Media Release: Come down to Glasgow Science Centre for a dirty weekend

THE Wellcome Trust’s Dirt Season reaches a filthy finale in Glasgow this month, and Glasgow Science Centre will bring Dirt Season to an end with a weekend of grimy family fun from 23 September to 26 September.

Says a spokesperson: “Dirt Season explores every conceivable aspect of ‘Dirt’ and our complex relationship with it.

“Over the weekend, kids can see whether they can stomach the Disgusting Digestion adventure, create mucky masterpieces of their own and take part in infection detection experiments.

“They can also meet the resident Madagascan hissing cockroaches and find out what dirt can tell us about creatures of the past.

“Visitors can unearth the secret lives of viruses in the beautiful Molecular Machines display and meet experts who will guide them through the dirt-dealing worlds of immunology, parasites and infections.”

Morning master classes will run for adults, exploring cutting-edge research on dirt, and there will be a series of talks from experts from the University of Glasgow, including Professor Gerry Graham and Dr Mhairi Stewart.

Learn about Scotland’s role in untangling the strange world of parasitology and take on the role of crime scene investigator as part of our CSI contaminants programme.

A Living with Dirt photo competition is underway online, where you can enter your dirtiest, family friendly, snaps via our website.
