Alienation Digital to Develop New Online Presence for Glasgow Science Centre

One of Scotland’s landmark visitor attractions, the Glasgow Science Centre (GSC), is to be given a new lease of life by Alienation Digital after the digital marketing agency was selected to develop its new website.

Following a competitive tender, GSC selected Alienation to develop a new site which will improve online access, raise awareness, improve search engine performance, sell tickets and integrate social media channels.

The new site is to engage GSC’s audiences, encouraging pre and post-visit interaction with the centre and sustained learning. Additionally, the site will offer increased capacity to book tickets online, supplementing other sales channels and enhancing the ease with which visitors can plan and organise a visit.

Ultimately, the new GSC website will streamline online and offline activities and increase efficiency throughout, as well as establishing a modern and prominent online presence for the Glasgow Science Centre.

David Johnstone, Sales Director at Alienation Digital, said: “We're delighted to have won this prestigious contract to work with such an iconic venue as the Glasgow Science Centre, and are hugely excited by the scope that the subject matter gives us to create some truly fantastic work.

“Alienation Digital will apply its expertise to create a good looking and effective website which promotes the accessibility of information and a better overall user experience. The new design and content will aim to reflect the quality of the centre’s exciting exhibitions, enhance the profile of GSC’s partnerships, foster interactions with schools and explain the charitable purpose of the Science Centre.”

Opened in 2001, the Glasgow Science Centre is a five star visitor attraction on the south bank of Glasgow’s River Clyde. Comprising three floors packed with interactive science exhibits that present a blend of science and technology, the centre aims to inspire and engage visitors.

Ian Wilson, Communications Manager at Glasgow Science Centre, said; “Alienation showed a winning mix of thoughtful research, technical capability, value and enthusiasm for the work.

“Our existing site has served us well for many years, but we need greater integration of social media, more capability to transact, a more modern CMS and a fresh look. I’ve got great expectations for the contribution the new site will make to the business.”
