Media Release: Northgate wins multi-million pound contract to further boost the IT health of AAH

IT specialist, Northgate Managed Services, is in good health after securing a multi-million pound contract with pharmaceutical wholesale company, AAH.

The three-year partnership renewal will see Northgate providing Pharmacy ICT Support for AAH, said to be the UK’s leading distributor of healthcare products, servicing an extensive network of 2,300 independent pharmacies throughout England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

The contract covers a broad range of procurement and lifecycle management services with Northgate’s service ultimately helping AAH customers benefit from best value, efficient stock management and rapid response to and minimal downtime from any breakdowns.

Belfast-headquartered Northgate, recently crowned IT Supplier of the Year at the British Computer Society & Computing UK Industry Awards 2011, will also provide ongoing support to the pharmacies systems, which are designed to drive customer loyalty.

The seven-figure contract covers spend for On Site Pharmacy ICT Support and  procurement and implementation services.

Northgate chief executive, Andy Ross, said: “This contract renewal is testament to the trusted partnership that Northgate and AAH have developed and demonstrates Northgate’s ability to provide an extensive and efficient service throughout the UK to AAH’s 2,300 independent pharmacies.

 AAH, with 3,800 employees, operates in 20 locations across the UK and moves approximately a third of all medicines around in the UK, making an estimated 100,000+ deliveries a week with more than 20,000 products stocked.

AAH commercial manager, Craig Hudson, said: “Northgate was instrumental in AAH completing a two-year transformation programme to time and budget.

In addition, Northgate has adopted a partnership approach to developing the service for 2012 and beyond. Together, these made the decision to renew the contract very easy.”
