Media Release: Redundancy support in Inverness

PEOPLE recently made redundant from construction company, UBC, are being invited to an event to help them back in to employment.

It is hoped those affected will attend the Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) redundancy support event being held on Wednesday 23 May.

The event, organised by local PACE partners, will take place in Inverness College, Longman Road, Inverness, from 6pm until 8pm and will include advice on benefits and tax credits, career guidance, supported job searches, advice on business start-ups, local training opportunities and alternative employment in the area.

Face to face help and advice will be on offer from organisations including Skills Development Scotland, Inverness College, Jobcentre Plus, Highland Council, Highlands & Islands Enterprise and HMRC. Local employers, employment agencies, Union representatives and training agencies will be on hand to offer support.

An invitation is extended to anyone in the area who has been affected by this redundancy.

Jane Weir, of Skills Development Scotland, who helped organise this PACE event, said: “Dealing with redundancy can be a daunting experience. In order to respond to these tough times, and help those who have been made redundant, it is vital that we provide the workforce with the necessary support.

“Skills Development Scotland supported by national and local partners, delivers PACE, which is the Scottish Government’s national initiative for responding to redundancy situations.

“The local PACE team will work closely with people affected by redundancy in an aim to minimise the time they are out of work.”
