THE Witch of the East, a wonderfully illustrated children’s book, already tipped to be a worldwide success, has been released in the Apple AppStore as interactive book available for iPad.
The e-book, currently picking up sales from Argentina to Australia, is narrated by Braveheart actor, Jimmy Chisholm, and Royal Shakespeare Company actress, Siobhan Redmond.
The 22-page, wonderfully illustrated book, written by Edinburgh author Mark Boyde, and illustrated by Scottish artist, Scott McGregor, is the first in a set of six such books, has been created to raise funds for the Scottish Burnt Children’s Club – which helps young burn victims and their families cope with the devastating effects of their injuries.
On Friday May 18, Billy Boyd, Pippen in Lord of the Rings, will begin recording the second book, ‘The Legend of Mordekai Hagg’, in an Edinburgh recording studio, to raise funds for children’s cancer charity – Clic Sargent.
The Legend of Mordekai Hagg is due for release in July.
Jimmy Chisholm and Jimmy Cosmo (Highlander) will also feature in the recording playing the parts of an Elf and an Ogre.
The books are available for purchase in hardback/paperback at www.thetalesofmordekaihagg.com and on the Apple AppStore.
Coffee With A Lid, who also work closely with The Proclaimers on their digital media, have created the interactive version of the book as an iPad App.
The book features sumptuous illustration and epic audio. The iPad app offers much more for the young reader than the printed book and contains full character descriptions to read with Mum or Dad, and ‘read to me’ narration throughout.
Billy Boyd will be available for interview and photo opportunity at Red Facilities, Timberbush, Edinburgh, at 5pm on Friday May 18.
