Further information on LAST ORDERS – IN PROCESS:

Last Orders has come about from David Hughes Dance Productions commissioning a new work of dance-theatre based upon the Sawney Bean cannibal myths from choreographer/director Al Seed.

In association with The National theatre of Scotland, the show will debut as part of the British Council showcase and Made in Scotland programmes at the Traverse Theatre during this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The show will then embark on an autumn tour, including dates at The Arches. Full details at www.davidhughesdance.co.uk

Early rehearsals of Last Orders have been documented by photographer Alberto Santos Bellido, also the lighting designer and technical manager for the production. Last Orders – In Process comprises publicity shots, set design concepts, and moments captured during rehearsal.

We hope it reflects the energy, adventurousness, and truly collaborative nature of the production.

David Hughes and Al Seed look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 13 July.

Notes to Editors:
Last Orders:

Last Orders is an enthralling new work of dance theatre inspired by the bloody myth of Sawney Bean, the legendary 16th century Scottish cannibal, and his cursed incestuous and multigenerational tribe of relentless killers.

It is a hallucinatory journey down the rabbit-hole, through subterranean caves and derelict nightclubs, to a radically different and unstable world of corrupted innocence where nothing is quite what is seems.

Last Orders is the second production in a series of original, engaging and immersive works that bring dark themes and the horror genre to the stage; with cinematic techniques and cross-art form collaboration at their heart.

It is the follow-up to 2009’s award-winning The Red Room, acclaimed by critics and audiences alike.
