ACCOMPLISHED and novice dancers alike are invited to take a quick step down to The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns on Thursday, 25th August at 7pm when it launches its first weekly tea dance at Primavera Bistro.

In addition to a fun social dancing programme, the session will include a short section for instruction on some basic dance moves, including samba and ballroom.

And the good news is that participation is free for Primavera customers (there is a £5 entrance fee for non-customers).

Michelle McCabe, centre manager at The Avenue, said: “There’s been a resurgence of interest in dancing within the local community over recent years, perhaps due in part to the continuing popularity of TV programmes like Strictly Come Dancing, and we’re delighted to help play our part in catering for this demand with the introduction of our free weekly tea dances.

“Not only do tea dances offer a fun way to meet people or catch up with friends, but dancing down The Avenue offers visitors a chance to show off or brush up their fox trots, before or after a bout of shopping, while Primavera Bistro provides the perfect spot to wind down over a bite to eat.”

Hosted by Liz Hannah, of Phoenix Dance School, tea dances at the Avenue will take place every Thursday from 7pm till 9pm at Primavera Bistro.

The Avenue Shopping Centre offers shoppers an alternative to sprawling trolley-dash shopping culture with a comprehensive range of outlets offering a warm and welcoming shopping experience conveniently located on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre.
