EVERYweek throughout Scotland, thousands of people meet up to sing, dance, paint, act, knit, sew – and the many other activities the arts and crafts have to offer.

These people play a vital role in their communities, boosting the local economy, providing cultural pursuits and increasing mental and physical wellbeing.

In order for the people holding the purse strings to know just what a valuable asset they have in the amateur arts sector, Voluntary Arts Scotland and Aberdeenshire Council Arts Development Team are conducting the first ever National Voluntary Arts Survey.

Says a spokesperson: “We want to know who is out there, what they’re doing, where they’re doing it and who they’re doing it with!

“As a thank you, we’re giving everybody that takes part in the survey a small gift, and entering groups into a prize draw to win £300 in cash, with three £50 runner-up prizes.

“People can fill in the survey online at www.vascotland.org.uk/15542 or can request a hard copy from research@vascotland.org.uk or tel: 0131 225 7355.

“The deadline is fast approaching as we are asking people to answer the survey by 30 September 2011.”
