Media Release: William Lippe Architects win accreditation

A LEADING North-east architecture and space planning firm has become one of the first in the North-east to be accredited to carry out energy building regulation certification in-house.

Inverurie-based William Lippe Architects can now carry out work for building regulations section six which relates to the energy efficiency of new-build domestic properties.

The Building Research Establishment (BRE) accreditation means that, as well as completing such work for its own projects the company can also undertake section six certification of the Scottish Building Regulations for other organisations, such as developers and other architects.

Architectural technologist, Ross McWilliam, completed a week-long course and exams for the company to gain the accreditation.

He said: “In the near future, buildings will be energy rated and have energy performance certificates so this accreditation enables us to be a step ahead in applying the forthcoming legislation to all relevant projects from now on.

“In addition to these changes, homeowners are becoming increasingly interested in the energy performance of their building due to rising energy costs and concerns about carbon footprints, so reducing energy is key to any design.”

William Lippe Architects recently announced deals worth £5 million for the second quarter of 2011 and the company is involved in the re-development of Aberdeen’s historic Tivoli entertainment venue.

Founded in 1985, the company employs 13 staff and provides top quality, professional architectural, space planning and associated services from inception to completion to residential and commercial clients throughout Scotland.
