Media Release: Recruitment drive by Apply Altra to double its Aberdeen workforce

APPLY ULTRA STAFF PORTRAITS

OIL and gas consultancy, Apply Altra, is driving forward plans to double its workforce in Aberdeen.

The company has recruited nearly ten additional engineers since its launch in May, but intends to take on a further 45 members of staff by next spring to bring the total number of employees to 100.

There are currently a range of vacancies for experienced engineers in most disciplines, including process, structural, piping, instrumentation and technical safety.

Apply Altra’s workforce expansion is an integral part of the firm’s long-term growth strategy to create a centre of excellence for process engineering and general front end engineering and design (FEED) within the Apply group.

The company was launched in April 2011 when Altra Energy was taken over by Norwegian engineering firm, Apply Sorco.

Apply Altra managing director, Agnar Kongshaug, said: “We are only ten per cent of the way towards meeting our target on recruitment, and are still actively looking for additional candidates.

“We need to fill a variety of posts: we want to recruit both senior experienced engineers and less experienced engineers who are at the start of their careers and who we can help to develop through mentoring and support.

“It is a very busy market at the moment, but we believe there is a huge amount of skill in Aberdeen and across the rest of the Scotland that we can draw upon to continue to develop a base of expertise here in the North-east.

“Apply Altra is firmly establishing itself within the Apply family as a centre of excellence for early phase studies and FEEDs, and as a consequence is involved in projects which emanate elsewhere in the Apply group of companies.”

The Apply group has a total of 2,000 employees across Europe, mainly in the oil and gas industry.

It has an operational presence in Bergen and Krakow in addition to its headquarters in Stavanger.

Apply Altra is based in Union Plaza in Aberdeen.
