THIS month, commissum passes the ten-year point for the commissum brand.

The company went through a re-branding exercise ten years ago following the move of the experienced e-security team to Realise Limited from Buchanan International; the company at that time was branded as Realise e-Security Limited.

Martin Finch, commissum’s current managing director, explains: “The company was always intended to operate totally independently from the then parent organisation, and re-branding was a way of reinforcing this independent identity.

“The name commissum was chosen by company staff in a mini-competition at the time. A number of suggestions were put forward, but commissum came out as a clear favourite in the end.

“Latin for ‘that which is entrusted’, the new name was seen as encapsulating the core values of trust and integrity that were and remain at the heart of the commissum ethos.

“At that time, commissum was largely based in Scotland, although the team always provided a range of information security services throughout the UK. In the last ten years an office in London has been established and through a strategic joint venture, an office in Zurich, Switzerland.”

Added Finch “The last ten years has flown by. As a team, we have been through both exciting and challenging times, especially over the last few years with the uncertainties in the economy. We have however, over this time, reinforced our position as one of the most respected of boutique information security consultancies.”

The commissum team are relishing the prospect of the next ten years; there are huge opportunities for growth in the assurance and security sector, and commissum have the track record, presence in the market, and can-do attitude to grasp these opportunities as they present themselves.
