A SPORTS quiz has raised £3,000 for a new organisation which has been set up to benefit young footballers in Aberdeen.

West End accountants Fyfe Moir & Associates spearheaded the recent event at Pittodrie’s Richard Donald Stand to raise funds for Stand Free Youth Development, a new organisation which will try to assist up-and-coming footballers at Aberdeen Football Club.

The quiz attracted more than 30 teams and the winning team on the night comprised a group of ex-Aberdeen players captained by Dons legend, Willie Miller.

Commenting on the success of the event, Alan Moir said: “Stand Free Youth Development is being set up just now and this event is the first of a number of planned events which will raise money to support young players.

“In 2012, we are planning a fundraising corporate dinner and golf day as well as another quiz night but we also hope that Aberdeen fans will get on board and stage their own fundraising events to boost the coffers.”
