MUSSELBURGH Racecourse has collected another accolade after it received an award for Operational Excellence at the Racecourse Association Showcase Awards.
The awards celebrate the overall excellence and innovation that has been shown by racecourses across the country and were hosted by the Racecourse Association in conjunction with Racing for Change.
The East Lothian course was honoured for introducing initiatives to improve operational performance and was deemed to have delivered exceptional customer service.
Showcase judges took in to account that Musselburgh recently retained its VisitScotland five-star visitor attraction status and is the only Scottish racecourse with a five star rating.
Musselburgh beat off strong opposition from Aintree, Brighton and Plumpton racecourses to take the top award.
Overall, there were 86 initiatives entered for consideration from 37 racecourses and an independent judging panel included representatives from the Racing Post, BBC and visitor organisations.
The judging panel said a range of initiatives introduced by the course had “maintained Musselburgh’s star rating, were very customer focused and tremendously well executed”.
Musselburgh Racecourse general manager, Bill Farnsworth, said: “We are delighted with the award which recognises the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make a visit to Musselburgh a five star experience.
“We are constantly investing money to maintain and improve the facilities at Musselburgh, but equally important is the level of customer service we deliver at every race day, and I am very proud to work with a team who put every effort in to achieving the highest standards in everything we do.”
