WEDNESDAY 28th and Thursday 29th sees hundreds of young creative minds descend on Glasgow’s CCA to take part in the third annual Creative Loop Student Media Festival, organised in partnership with Creative Scotland and supporting the Year of Creative Scotland 2012.
Featuring an enviable line up of media sector professionals and experts, the festival gives students from across Scotland the chance to learn from the very best, matching the talent in the classroom with those in media looking for the next bright hope in broadcasting, design and the creative industries.
Over the two-day event, students will have access to exclusive sessions with a vast range of guest speakers, practical workshops and master-classes. Award winning writer of ‘The Men Who Stare at Goats’, Jon Ronson, will be sharing his experiences and inspirations with a theatre full of the next generation of producers, writers and presenters keen to learn; Ewan Angus and Jeff Zycincski, commissioning editors at BBC Scotland, will be taking part in open forums where students will get first hand advice on what broadcasters are looking for their stations – plus invaluable advice on simply how students can get their foot in the door.
It’s not just television and radio, Scotland’s appetite for film is catered for by Mark Miller, writer of Hollywood blockbusters, Kick Ass, Wanted and the man responsible for revamping the X-Men will be in conversation with Janice Forsyth answering questions from the country’s aspiring film makers.
Des Clarke (Capital FM), Paul Harper (Real Radio), Mark Martin (Forth One) and Martell Maxwell (Sky News) are just a few more of the home grown success stories willing to give up their time to actively engage with the next generation of presenters, producers, directors and designers.

With over 20 unique sessions with speakers from every aspect of the creative industry in Scotland, the 2012 Creative Loop Student Media Festival promises to be the best yet.
The festival closes with the Creative Scotland Student Media Awards, where the best in film and television, radio and online productions from Scotland’s media students are recognised. Last year, Andrea McKinnon from Adam Smith College had her idea commissioned by BBC Scotland Online as a direct result of winning her award, and there’s the same expectations for this year.
