AN online marketing agency has headed straight to the top of the class after helping one of Scotland’s leading boarding and day schools achieve a 23 per cent uplift in organic visits to its website.

QueryClick help clients get better results online through search engine optimisation (SEO) and strive to have its clients’ websites appear higher and perform better when internet users make Google searches.

The Edinburgh-based agency has helped Glenalmond College in Perthshire achieve 112,483 organic visits to its website over the 2011 – 2012 period, which is an increase of over 23 per cent compared to the volume of organic traffic recorded the previous year.

Results from the most recent performance report indicate that over the next 12 months numbers of visitors to the site are likely to rise, as in March alone they have helped attract 12,461 organic visits to the site; a seven per cent increase on the same period in 2011.

Key word performance has also improved for the college, with the addition of seven of its key search words and phrases, making an appearance in the top three Google rankings.

Donald Stephenson, search marketing account manager at QueryClick, said: “We began working with Glenalmond College in November 2010 and there have been some really positive improvements to its website with increased rankings for key phrases relevant to their sector.

“Ranking highly in search engines is massively important to the popularity of any website and we’ve been working on optimising a selection of phrases that will be used regularly to search for schools in Scotland which will help Glenalmond College website appear highly in the results.

“From the reports we can see that we’ve managed to increase its ranking performance and impressively secure its appearance in the top three Google search rankings which will help increase visibility for country wide searches.”

Glenalmond College is a top independent boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 12-18 in Perthshire, Scotland.

With there being strong competition in the education sector and parents placing a high level of importance on researching and choosing a school they believe their child will flourish in, online performance is vital for creating awareness.

Over the course of the campaign with Glenalmond College, Queryclick ensured that the website achieved a total of 34,222 organic SEO visits between January and March this year which is an increase of 11 per centagainst the same period in 2011.

Donald adds: “We understand that Glenalmond College may appear to be completely different to our other clients insofar as they do not sell commercial goods; however, they are in the business of promoting and providing a service just the same.

“Like all service providers, they are affected by seasonal trends. Despite such fluctuations it’s important that the optimisation of the website is maintained throughout the year as this sector is highly competitive. We need to ensure that the website performs to its fullest potential and attract the attention of prospective parents.

“In the coming months, we are looking to continue to improve the website’s visibility within the search engines in line with their overall strategy of attracting greater numbers of domestic and overseas students.”
