HAMILTON Park Racecourse has ‘tea-d’ up its first winner of 2012 ahead of its upcoming flat racing season – an unique new partnership with McGhee’s Bakery.

The businesses have joined forces to offer racegoers attending any of Hamilton Park’s 18 fixtures this year – starting on Sunday – a special “afternoon tea” advance ticket, which is being branded McGhee’s Teaz.

The ticket package includes: admission badge to enjoy a minimum of six races; a selection of sandwiches, cakes, pastries and a McGhee’s pie; unlimited tea or coffee whilst in the bistro; and official race programme. Hamilton Park has invested in a new dedicated cafe area for the offering – ticket prices start at just £25 for concessions booking in advance (up to three days before any meeting).

Hamilton Park chief executive, Vivien Kyles, and McGhee’s Bakery sales manager, Ross Hamilton, donned Alice In Wonderland and The Hatter costumes to toast the new partnership.

Kyles said: “We’re thrilled to have come together with McGhee’s to provide this unique package to racegoers attending any of our 18 fixtures this season.

“It represents terrific value for money and we believe we now have package tickets which appeal to every type of racegoer, including our McGhee’s Teaz offering which I’m sure will go down as well as the bakery’s tasty snacks.”

The partnership also sees McGhee’s become title sponsor of Hamilton Park’s Afternoon Tea Raceday on Wednesday June 20, which includes the feature race being named after the Glasgow-based firm.

Ross Hamilton added: “Our Geez McGhee’s brand has proven such a success over the years and McGhee’s Teaz is a very natural extension of that.

“We’re really looking forward to adding to the enjoyment for racegoers attending Hamilton Park this season and we hope to see more than a few winning bets washed down with some McGhee’s Teaz.”

Hamilton Park’s 18-fixture 2012 flat racing season kicks off this Sunday, May 6 with Cancer Research UK Family Day. Gates open at 12.15pm and the first race is at 2.15pm.

In addition, Hamilton Park will again this year host two standalone music concerts, welcoming global icon Tom Jones on Friday, July 6 and both Steps and Peter Andre on Saturday, July 7.
