AMATEUR photographers are being encouraged to lose their fear of turning off the ‘auto’ setting and learn how to use their cameras properly under the guidance of a top North-east professional.

During a specially-tailored ten-week course that will bring students the joy and excitement of producing stunning photographs taken both in and outdoors, they will then be offered the chance to have their finished artwork displayed in a prominent Aberdeenshire gallery.

James Kelly Photography will take six students through each class, and at the end of the ten weeks will join his students in helping them launch their talents to the public at Durno Gallery near Inverurie.

With more than ten years experience in many fields of photography, James will teach students the basics of photography and progress them to the stage where they can use their cameras confidently and creatively.

Incorporating both theory and location, James and his students will visit locations around Aberdeenshire, including Newburgh Beach, Bennachie, Glen Clova, Glens of Foudland, photographing sunrises, sunsets, open valleys, wind turbines, wildlife, flora and fauna.

New classes are due to start on Sunday, May 13 and on Friday, May 18, and further information on reserving a place is available by calling James on 01467 681583.

Future ten-week classes are also planned to start on Sunday, July 8.

James also offers one-to-one photography classes and day classes to the Isle of May to photograph puffins.  Five-day courses are also available taking in the scenery of the Isle of Muick, Eigg, Lewis and Harris.
