THE University of Stirling has been awarded the coveted title of Nurse Education Provider of the Year (pre-registration) at the inaugural Student Nursing Times Awards 2012.
The announcement of the prestigious awards – which recognise high standards of nursing education – took place at an inspiring awards lunch in London, following a judging process based on feedback and testimonials from students from all year groups.
Stirling came first after being shortlisted in a highly competitive group of educational institutions based across the United Kingdom. The other entries were of an exceptionally high standard, so Stirling’s win demonstrates its distinction in a range of areas, including teaching, resources, student support, career advice and professional development.
Mrs Julia Scott, director of Learning, Teaching and Quality Enhancement in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the School and a testament to the students on the programme. It is also further testimony to the hard work and commitment of the teaching staff who contribute to the programme delivery across our three campus sites at Stirling, Inverness and Stornoway.”
Stirling was also shortlisted for two other awards: for nursing student Astrid Wills who was nominated for the award of Student Nurse of the Year (Mental Health), and for Stirling’s Masters in Health Research (MRes) programme, which was nominated for the Teaching Innovation of the Year award.
