ONE lucky couple have had their hotel bill for a two night stay slashed to a bargain £4.68 after winning a competition to win their stay at The Angus Hotel in Perthshire at 1952 prices.

Mr and Mrs Harvey, from Paisley in Scotland, had booked a two-night stay at the hotel during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and found out the following week that they had been picked as the lucky winners.

Commenting, Mr Harvey said: “We were delighted when we got the call from the hotel to tell us we’d won. We have stayed at the Angus Hotel in the past, as well as this visit, and would not hesitate to recommend to others both young and old. We had a lovely time at The Angus Hotel and really enjoyed the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations taking place in the town – winning our stay at 1952 prices really was the icing on the cake!”

The Angus Hotel in Blairgowrie hung out the bunting for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by giving all their Jubilee guests an unrivalled opportunity to win their stay at 1952 room price of just 19 shillings and 6 pence (234 pennies).

Murray Scott, managing director of Scott Hotels, commented: “With our own 60th anniversary coming up in a few years’ time, we had started to dig back through the archives and came across our price lists for the 1950s and it sparked the idea. We’re delighted that Mr and Mrs Harvey were our lucky winners and we look forward to welcoming them back to the hotel again.”

All guests who stayed at The Angus Hotel between 1st and 5th June were automatically entered into the draw to have their stay reduced to just 234 pennies per night.
