Media Release: Winter Wonderland chronicles present Tignes – the ski resort that packs a punch

EIGHTY per cent of the skiing area in Tignes is classified as off-piste. This means that the resort’s specialty is skiing outside the box.

This ethos transcends across the entire resort: from its exciting ‘apres-ski’ scene to its extreme winter sports competitions, Tignes ensures that its skiers get as much out of their experience as they put into it.

However, those who prefer the lighter side of skiing can also enjoy the beginner and intermediate slopes, dining at the Panoramic restaurant and pampering at the balneotherapy centre.

The majority of skiers at Tignes are under 35 and to cater to their nightlife needs, Tignes has electro DJs spin throughout the winter months and hosts a variety of clubbing events to stay warm during those cold nights!

For those looking for a different king of alpine experience, Tignes offers the possibility of ice diving for both beginner and experienced divers. Also, Tignes has family friendly attractions such as a lagoon to swim in, a snowpark and an ice skating rink.

Events:

  • 31 December 2012 – Fire Mix Party: Between 20,000 and 25,000 congregate to celebrate this new year’s eve celebration on the highest dance floor in Europe.
  • February 2013 – Silence on Danse Winter Tour: Clubbers each dance to their own rhythms on the dancefloor with individual headphones.
  • 20 – 22 March 2013 – X Games Tignes: European Winter X Games which will host 150 international skiers.

The Tignes resort is part of the Espace Killy in the Savoie region of the Rhone-Alps and is open from 29 September 2012 to 11 May 2013.

Don’t forget to register your interest in attending our 11 September Winter Wonderland event to find out more and meet with Tignes!
