Media Release: Avenue hosts trio of cookery demonstrations for feastRen

Cookery school

SEPTEMBER is foodie month in East Renfrewshire and, as always, The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns finds itself at the centre of things when it plays host to a trio of cookery demonstrations by James McGuire of Cook School Scotland on Sat 8th Sept at 11am, 1pm and 3pm as part of feastRen, the East Renfrewshire Food and Drink Festival.

Michelle McCabe, centre manager at The Avenue, said: “This is a great chance to pick up some useful cooking tips – for free. James will show us all how to prepare a variety of healthy, nutritious meals featuring local produce, most of which can be purchased right here in the Avenue.”

The East Renfrewshire Food and Drink Festival rolls around again from 1st – 16th September to coincide with Scottish Food Fortnight. Organised by East Renfrewshire Council, the festival is a celebration of all things food and drink and aims to give a taste of all that’s best in local produce.

The messages of the festival are to support local food businesses and to eat and cook healthy food. The overall aim is to encourage additional food related economic activity in the area.

The Avenue Shopping Centre, which is managed by commercial property consultancy BTWShiells, offers shoppers an alternative to sprawling trolley-dash shopping culture with a comprehensive range of outlets offering a warm and welcoming shopping experience conveniently located on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre.
