The Avenue Xmas Lights Switch-on

THE Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns is all set for an action-packed Sunday 18th November with a spectacular Christmas lights switch-on ceremony and much much more.

Taking place from 2pm – 4pm, and hosted by Clyde 1 broadcaster Gina McKie, the dazzling switch on ceremony will be performed by Fairy Godmother, Karen Dunbar, and Ugly sisters, Gavin Mitchell and Gordon Cooper, from The King’s Theatre’s Christmas panto, Cinderella.

And Santa himself will be making a grand entrance to greet the kids in the mall from his throne set amongst giant presents alongside a super snow globe.

Amongst the stream of entertainment lined-up for the action-packed afternoon are performances from both the Belmont House School Choir and Rock Choir, face painters, a caricaturist and popular mall mascots, Newton & Fearn, handing out goodies to children throughout the centre.

Michelle McCabe, centre manager at The Avenue, said: “The Christmas spirit is sure to be in full swing in the centre this Sunday when the Cinderella stars perform our Christmas lights switch-on and Santa Claus rolls into town, bringing his glittering snow globe with him. We’re sure to make every kid’s wish come true at The Avenue this Christmas!

“Come along to see the Cinderella stars and Santa for yourself – and get your family photo taken in our glittering snow globe – the perfect Christmas present for friends and relatives.”

And amongst an array of prizes up for grabs to be won on the day are four prizes for a fab ‘Touch of Vegas’ experience at Alea Glasgow, the luxury casino at Springfield Quay, including a champagne dinner for two and cocktails.

The Avenue’s Christmas lights-switch-on is scheduled for 4pm on Sunday 18th whilst, from that date, Santa and his snow globe will be at The Avenue every weekend in the run up to Christmas on Saturdays from10am till 5pm, on Sundays from 11am till 4pm and on Christmas Eve from 10am till 3pm.
