Media Release: Scherzinger ‘delivers’ boost for Ayrshire couple

X FACTOR  judge, Nicole Scherzinger, gave an up and coming Scottish company a massive boost on Saturday night – by showing off her BALL on live television.

The Pussycat Doll was discussing the latest round of performances with Olly Murs on ITV 2’s ‘Xtra Factor’, when she pointed out some of the mail she’d received during the week.

Among the items, a bright yellow, personalised ball from husband and wife team, Alan and Nicola Howat, who run ‘www.deliveraball.co.uk’ from their home in Kilmaurs, Ayrshire.

Says a spokesperson: “It bills itself as ‘The UK’s first ball in the mail service’ and encourages people to send the balls as gifts for special occasions rather than chocolates and flowers.

“They’ve been operating for just under a year and have already attracted attention and support from several well-known personalities.

“Sales have increased to more than 100 a month and the company’s colourful mascots frequently appear to liven up events and parties. Deliveraball’s personalised balls featured on every table at the recent Scottish Council for Development and Industry’s Scotland’s International Awards at the new Commonwealth Arena in Glasgow where more than 700 guests attended.”

Deliveraball boss, Alan Howat, said: “It’s been an incredible few months for us but to get recognition from one of the biggest stars of Saturday night television is unbelievable.

“We’re always looking for opportunities to bounce along and liven things up and we’ve heard Nicole talk a lot about ‘balls’ in the last few weeks; in fact, ‘Amazeballs’ seems to be one of her favourite words, she says it on almost every show. It was almost as if she was crying out for a delivery from us, so we sent her one.”

Nicole received a bright yellow ball bearing the message, ‘From one ball lover to another, your acts are AMAZEBALLS’, which Alan and Nicola sent to X Factor’s ‘home’, at Fountain Studios in London.

Saturday night’s prime time TV mention led to a flurry of congratulatory messages on social network Twitter and a surge in interest in the company’s products through their website, www.deliveraball.co.uk.

Now, Alan and Nicola are hoping for an increase in sales in the run up to Christmas.

“We know a lot of people are looking for an alternative to cards which we’re all so used to and some people don’t even bother anymore. They tend to just sit on shelves or get stuck to doors until you run out of space. People love receiving our balls which can be sent through the Royal Mail along with everything else and personalised with any message you want. They make people smile, it’s something they’ll always remember and it makes them feel special.”
