THE Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns has won a Star Award, having been named by readers of Primary Times in Glasgow and the West of Scotland as the best family-friendly shopping centre.

Michelle McCabe, Centre Manager at The Avenue, said: “I’m delighted that the family friendly initiatives and activities we’ve introduced to The Avenue of late – from free workshops and entertainments throughout school holidays to our established Family Funday Sundays featuring popular mall mascots Newton and Fearn – have proved so popular with parents, teachers and children.

“We’ve all been working hard to lend The Avenue real appeal as a destination venue for families and have featured a rolling roster of activities – from face painters to balloon modellers – to help replace the hassle factor and put the fun back into family shopping by mixing entertainment to occupy the kids with opportunities to browse and hunt for bargains amongst a variety of retail outlets within the one covered location.

“And we’ll continue to offer fresh initiatives and entertainment because, as every parent knows, kids can get bored easily – which is no fun when you’ve got shopping to do!”

Primary Times is a free magazine for parents, teachers and children in Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

The Avenue Shopping Centre, managed by commercial property consultancy BTWShiells, offers shoppers an alternative to sprawling trolley-dash shopping culture with a comprehensive range of outlets offering a warm and welcoming shopping experience conveniently located on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre.
