Media Release: Colin Kelly uses Google+ to help businesses get noticed

interview 19

TV and radio broadcaster Colin Kelly is to use the Google+ social network to help small Scottish businesses raise their profile.

Every Monday evening from 9pm till 10pm (starting Monday February 4) the former STV gadget man will take questions and share his expertise through a live Google+ hangout.

It allows participants to join a video conference chat by logging on to www.colinkelly.net/hangout and Kelly promises to offer whatever help he can there and then.

In return, he is asking business owners to make a donation to Yorkhill Children’s Foundation if they find his advice useful.

Colin says: “I get a huge kick from helping small businesses and it feels good to give something back. Since having a child of my own last year I have become aware of the brilliant work Yorkhill does.

“For the last two years, I have been regularly giving small businesses tips and tricks to raise their profile whether it is helping them get in the papers, explaining how to give better interviews or how to make contact with journalists. The Google+ hangout is such a simple and straightforward way to do it.

“Anyone can join in and if they find it useful, I would be delighted if they consider making a donation to such a worthwhile cause.”

Colin Kelly graduated from Napier University with a BA Journalism in 1999 and began a career in local radio with stints at Scot FM, Real Radio where he served as deputy news editor and hosted a Sunday morning business discussion programme before moving to Clyde 1 as mid-morning presenter and joining the team at The Hour on STV.

He has also been a columnist with the Paisley Daily Express and spent 2011 with BBC Radio Scotland anchoring the Morning Briefing programme and filling in as host of the Call Kaye phone-in.

He now runs his own communications consultancy, Colin Kelly Media, which specialises in media training, public relations and corporate video production.

The Google+ hangout takes place every Monday evening from 9pm-10pm.
