THE Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns threw a surprise party this week for two very familiar faces – centre administrator Irene Charlick and maintenance supervisor Bernie Anderson – who, between them, have clocked up an impressive combined half century of service.

Michelle McCabe, Centre Manager at The Avenue, said: “Congratulations to Irene and Bernie, two very familiar faces well known to – and well loved by – all our regular shoppers, retailers and staff. The Avenue just wouldn’t be the same without them. Here’s to the next 25 years!”

Centre management staff and retailers at the Avenue combined to mark the special occasion with a surprise party with retailers Clintons providing the balloons and Greggs providing the celebration cake.

The Avenue Shopping Centre, managed by commercial property consultancy BTWShiells, offers shoppers an alternative to sprawling trolley-dash shopping culture with a comprehensive range of outlets offering a warm and welcoming shopping experience conveniently located on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre.
