THERE’S only one place to be if you want to get yourself Tickled Pink this weekend – it Asda be The Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns!

That’s because, on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th March, Asda’s biannual Tickled Pink fundraiser for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign takes place in store with a whole host of fun activities sure to leave you tickled pink.

Claire Rennie, community life champion at Asda Newton Mearns, said: “We will have a range of activities going on in-store over the weekend. On Friday 8th we will be doing a cake and candy sale, tombola and a sponsored 100-mile relay race on an exercise bike, all kicking off at 10am and continuing throughout the day.

“On Saturday 9th, our grocery boys will be getting their legs waxed throughout the day and grocery colleague Audrey Loudon has promised to shave all her hair off for the cause, if she manages to reach £400 worth of donations – so her colleague, John Davies (who is currently recovering from cancer), has volunteered to be the barber for the day whilst the rest of our staff are digging deep into their pockets.

“And we’ll be looking for customers to help us reach this target.”

Saturday’s Tickled Pink event will also feature a raffle with a first prize of a mountain bike, a second prize of a meal for two, donated by Pavone Sud restaurant at The Avenue and a third prize of a £20 Asda gift card.

Michelle McCabe, centre manager at The Avenue, said: “Tickled Pink is always a fun event and Asda is to be commended on its tremendous efforts which, over the last 16 years, have raised over £29 million for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign.

“I’m sure that all our shoppers will enjoy getting Tickled Pink this weekend and help Asda raise more funds for this worthy cause.”

The Avenue Shopping Centre, managed by commercial property consultancy BTWShiells, offers shoppers an alternative to sprawling trolley-dash shopping culture with a comprehensive range of outlets offering a warm and welcoming shopping experience conveniently located on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre.
