THE new centre which is located in Walker Park in Blackburn, Lancashire – is now fully operational following two months of extensive testing and training and will service all 260 Sally and Salon Services stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
The purpose-built distribution centre was officially opened on Friday the 31st of May by Blackburn MP Jack Straw, who joined the centre’s employees to mark the opening of the centre.
This new building has been designed to keep pace with the needs of the modern and sometimes, very busy hair and beauty professional, and is well equipped to deal with the demands of Salon Service’s many customers in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
While the site in Walker Park was created to help Salon Service’s customers get the best service possible from the company, the new centre boasts a number of very unique features because of its amazing size.
According to Salon Services, the centre can:
• Store an amazing six million items across around 8,000 product lines;
• Three Olympic-size swimming pools could fit inside the warehouse
• The warehouse is the size of three football pitches at over 18,000m2
“We know that we can enhance our service to customers through improvements in availability of products in our stores,” commented Richard Hull, managing director, SBH UK & Ireland.
“We have made a significant investment in state of the art in-house operations, and we’re confident that our customers will see improvements in this area in the months ahead.”
With the centre already open and operating, Salon Services is very happy with the quality of service that the new warehouse is already providing its customers.
The centre has already made an impact on their services and especially on their customers, who stand to benefit from the centre’s optimised processes and large range of stock.
