Media Release: Finalists selected for ‘Hamilton Park’s Got Talent 2013′ as racecourse pays tribute to Scotland’s most talented

Hamilton Park’s Got Talent 3

THE 12 lucky finalists have been selected to compete live, on stage, in the finale of ‘Hamilton Park’s Got Talent 2013′, to be held this Saturday, July 13, with the venue adding a ‘Wimbledon theme’ to ensure it will be ‘all white on the night’.

The fixture will celebrate Andy Murray’s historic win and its distinct ‘lucky seven theme’ with free entry for the first 77 people named Andy or Murray (ID required) coming through the gates on the night.

Those not named Andy or Murray can still take part in the celebrations with seven golden tennis balls being hidden on the night, offering seven tickets to Mid-Fair Friday Night on July 19 for those who find each.

The ‘seven’ theme acknowledges Murray’s victory coming on the seventh day of the seventh month, in his seventh Grand Slam final, stopping Djokovic winning his seventh major title, a full 77 years after Britain’s last male singles winner at Wimbledon.

Hamilton Park chief executive, Vivien Kyles, said: “Nobody in Scotland has talent quite like Andy Murray so it is fitting that we pay our own tribute to the new Wimbledon champion as part of a night set up to help identify some stars of the future.”

Now in its second year, the evening event will showcase Lanarkshire and the West of Scotland’s finest entertainers and, following the success of last year’s competition, has been switched to a Saturday night to highlight local talent to a larger audience.

Finalists will take to the stage immediately after the evening’s racing to entertain the crowds and compete to win the coveted title. The finalists include Ashleigh Burns, Jemma Stevenson, Rebecca Traynor, Katelin Tierney, Tia Butterworth, Rebekah Kirk, Erin Bolland, Kelsey Barr, Happenin Dance, Nicole Brown, Beth Swan and Amy Shields.

A judging panel including Hamilton Park Racecourse chief executive, Vivien Kyles, and Radio Clyde programme director, John Dash, will have the tough job of selecting the overall winner of the competition. Run in conjunction with 102.5 Clyde 1, the winner of the contest will be rewarded with a cash prize of £500 plus ‘Breakfast with Clyde’ package including Breakfast with the ‘Bowie at Breakfast’ team and a tour of the station. Each finalist will aim to succeed last year’s winner Jade Burke.

Kyles added: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be bringing some of the best up and coming talent the country has to offer to Hamilton Park. Hopefully, we’ll be giving some of the stars of the future their first step on the stardom ladder.

“There is a buzz about the racecourse with everyone hoping that their own favourite will shine through on the evening.  We’re expecting great things from our finalists as last year’s level of talent was so high. We wish all the contestants the very best of luck and are sure they’ll be fantastic with lots of their friends and family cheering them on.”

Ahead of the bumper action on stage, the action on track will be the centre of attention not to be missed this Saturday evening with gates open at 4.40pm.
