Media Release: And… action! Eden Court CREATIVE and Outfit Moray team up to transport youth groups to the forefront of filmmaking

WHILE many dream of perching on the director’s chair, perfecting their close-up or lurking behind the lens, this summer, youth groups in the Moray area are being invited to jump into their very own Hollywood moment and create an adventure film with Eden Court CREATIVE and Outfit Moray.

As part of Eden Court CREATIVE’s CashBack for Creativity programme, youth groups identified by award winning outdoor education charity Outfit Moray will be able to film themselves taking part in two days of outdoor activities on state of the art Go Pro cameras.

The young people will then also enjoy a day with Eden Court CREATIVE’s digital assistant, Mike Webster, who will help transform their action-packed adventures into a cinematic masterpiece.

Those featuring in the film can expect a high-octane itinerary including climbing, mountain biking, kayaking, gorge swimming and surfing, all overseen by Lossiemouth-based Oufit Moray, who offer outdoor activities, courses and tailored programmes for schools, adults, families and groups.

Three programmes will run for three consecutive days free of charge for the young people, starting Monday 29 July and continuing the following month, on Wednesday 07 August and Wednesday 14 August respectively.

The films created will then be screened at a special showing at Eden Court Cinema on Saturday 17th August at 12pm.

The project is fully funded by CashBack for Creativity, a branch of the Scottish Government’s CashBack for Communities programme, which reinvests the proceeds of crime back into communities to support Scotland’s young people.

Over a three-year period (2011-2014), CashBack for Creativity aims to facilitate a wide range of projects in film, dance and music – targeting communities where there is a demonstrated need.

Eden Court CREATIVE manager, Kati Kozikowska, said:

“This project hopes to reach out to local young people in deprived areas and give them an opportunity to pursue creative avenues they may not have considered before. It’s a chance to have some fun with friends and take advantage of the fantastic resources we have here at Eden Court CREATIVE.

“Collaborating with Outfit Moray should prove hugely inspirational and we look forward to putting the funds from CashBack for Creativity into good use, for the benefit of the Moray community.”

Outfit Moray said:

“Outfit Moray is delighted to be working on this exciting new project in partnership with Eden Court and Cashback for Creativity.

“We believe that providing young people with a mixture of outdoor activities, filmmaking and being able to see the film that they have created in the setting of Eden Court will give them a real sense of achievement, and we very much hope that we can run more similar programmes in the future.”
