Media Release: Aspiring Olympic decathlete, Mike Sweeney, joins Pro-10 as a new ambassador


SPORTS supplement provider,, is delighted to welcome successful decathlete, Mike Sweeney, as a new brand ambassador. Sweeney is an aspiring Olympic decathlete representing Great Britain and England, making a name for himself as a dedicated, talented and enthusiastic competitor.

Born in Liverpool, Sweeney has been competing for six years and has enjoyed consistent improvement in all ten decathlon events. He didn’t start seriously training until he was 17, which is relatively late compared to many of his competitors, but immediately fell in love with the physically demanding and highly skilful nature of the decathlon.

At the recent England Athletics Championships in Bedford, Sweeney was crowned British Universities and College Sports (BUCS) champion with a personal best of 6602 points. This score also placed him as number six on the England Athletics Championship board.

Mike trains as much as he can every day and fits the rest of his life around his training schedule. The decathlon is a demanding event and due to the huge amount of talent and training needed to compete, the winner of the Olympic Decathlon is often dubbed ‘The Greatest Athlete in the World’.

Made up of ten separate events – including the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m, 110m hurdles, discus throw, pole vault javelin throw and 1,500m – the decathlon puts athletes through a series of mental and physical challenges that require great skill and energy levels. According to a spokesperson, Sweeney’s enthusiastic attitude and infectious personality makes him a wonderful addition to’s ambassadors.
