PERCEPTIVE Partners Communications has been appointed by Kier, one of the UK’s leading construction, services and property groups, to handle communications and media strategy on behalf of its Scottish construction business.

Kier is a major provider of construction and design and build services to the commercial, retail, leisure, healthcare, education and industrial sectors in Scotland.

Says a spokesperson: “Kier has recently been named as one of five Principal Supply Chain Partners on Frameworks Scotland 2, the publicly-funded procurement initiative that will deliver £600m worth of construction, renovation and maintenance projects to acute NHS facilities over the next six years.

“Already an equity stakeholder in hub South-West Scotland, which has a pipeline of work in excess of £600m, Kier is also one of four construction firms on Highlands & Islands Enterprise’s Prime Contractor Framework.”

Perceptive will be responsible for raising Kier’s profile in Scotland and highlighting its ambitious growth plans which in recent months have seen the announcement of key new appointments and strategic business wins.

Brian McQuade, managing director of Kier’s Scottish construction business, said: “Our vision is for Kier to be a leading construction services provider across Scotland and North of England providing traditional, design and build and DBFM services across the sectors we work in.

“We are very pleased to have Perceptive Partners on board with us and look forward to using their expertise as we work together to achieve our common goals.”

Julie Moulsdale, managing director of Perceptive Partners Communications, said: “We have a solid track record in construction and property from City Legacy, the consortium building the Athletes’ Village for the Commonwealth Games to others like Mactaggart & Mickel, CCG and property lawyers, Anderson Strathern.

“We are delighted to be working with Kier in highlighting its achievements and we look forward to developing internal and external communications strategies that will ensure that the Kier brand gains the recognition that it deserves.

“Kier’s Scottish construction business is part of a worldwide group that employs 16,000 people and has an annual revenue of £2.8bn.

“It is already a serious player in Scotland with a strong track record for delivering high-quality projects in a sector that plays a vital part of the Scottish economy.”
