Media Release: Aberdeen Lynx secures exciting junior talent ahead of season opener

ABERDEEN’S premier ice hockey team has been given a major boost ahead of its opening fixture this weekend (Saturday 7 September).

The Aberdeen Lynx, which competes in the Scottish National League, has secured the signatures of two players who have made a major impact at junior level.

16 year-old forward, Ross Goddard, and 17 year-old net minder, Callum Forsyth, have committed their futures to the side for the coming season, adding to a squad which already boasts a number of exciting young talent.

New Lynx coach, Rod Ramsay, said: “I am delighted to have signed up Ross and Callum for this campaign.

“They have both made a real impact playing for the Lynx junior team and I am confident that they have the talent and work ethic necessary to take the next step and break into the senior side.”

Earlier this month, Ramsay also added Aberdeen-born Jonathan Hogan to his roster; the 24 year-old former pro has spent the previous four years in the City of Discovery, where he turned out for both the Dundee Stars and Comets.

Hogan will turn out against his former side when the Aberdeen Lynx host the Comets in their season opener on Saturday.

Mr Ramsay added: “This tie will have an added incentive for Jonathan. Coming up against the Comets gives him an opportunity to get one over on his former teammates and I am sure there will be plenty of banter between them in the run up to face-off.

“On a more serious note, we are primed and ready for this clash and I have been making sure that we prepare for it as professionally as possible by implementing rigorous training sessions twice a week; hopefully, the hard work will pay off on Saturday night and we take maximum points in front of a packed arena.”

The Aberdeen Lynx will face off against the Dundee Comets in the first home game on Saturday, 7 September, at the Aberdeen Links Ice Arena.

Tickets are priced at £6 for adults, £4 for kids.

The Aberdeen Lynx also has junior and senior teams and encourage new players of all ages to get in touch if they are keen to start a new sport.
