DURING the exciting and glittering annual AA Awards Ceremony at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in London on 23rd September 2013, Cringletie House Hotel was awarded the very prestigious Hotel of the Year Scotland 2013-2014 award.

The entire Cringletie team has worked very hard since 2003 to achieve the best possible experience for their guests.

This dedicated and continuous commitment both in work and finance have now indeed resulted in this award.

Begins a spokesperson: “Receiving red stars was the first step on this quality ladder and since then the owners and their team have worked tirelessly to maintain and improve those standards in relation to guest approach; or, in the words of a recent Dutch hospitality trainee: ‘Surprise and delight’.

“Winning this award is a huge morale boost for all the team led by the general manager, Vivienne Bardoulet, and head chef, Patrick Bardoulet, as they all form part of the enthusiastic group of employees that managed to secure this award.

“Building on the successes of the previous years, Cringletie House will close this winter for major refurbishment works, amongst which an extension and alteration of the award winning restaurant to increase the current maximum capacity to 45 seats in a pleasant and informal ambiance for high quality yet relaxed and casual dining.

“In addition, the private dining room will be doubled in size to cater for 20 diners comfortably and to allow private meetings and conferences for up to 30 participants.

“The enlarged restaurant will now increase to 95 seats for functions like weddings.”

Recent history: Jacob and Johanna van Houdt acquired Cringletie in 2003 and embarked on an extensive renovation in 2004, which saw all public and bedrooms upgraded to a very high standard in a warm contemporary style.

These efforts were rewarded by the AA in 2005 by three RED stars, the highest possible recognition of quality standards. In 2006, VisitScotland awarded Cringletie four GOLD Stars.

In 2007, the AA increased to four RED Stars. In 2011, Cringletie was awarded the Catey’s Award for Accessibility. In 2012, Patrick Bardoulet achieved three rosettes for the Cringletie Food and Service of the Restaurant. This is now being crowned by the AA Hotel of the Year Scotland award.
