Media Release: Top safety accreditation for Petrasco

PETRASCO, an Aberdeen-based international freight forwarder which specialises in serving the energy industry, has been awarded accreditation by safecontractor for its commitment to achieving excellence in its health and safety practices.

The company, which also has offices in Dubai and Houston, and works with leading contractors and service companies in the North Sea and around the world had to undergo rigorous scrutiny of its health and safety procedures and processes before gaining the accreditation.

Says a spokesperson: “safecontractor is a nationally recognised third-party accreditation scheme which recognises high standards in health and safety management procedures amongst UK contractors across most business sectors.|

Kevin Buchan, Petrasco’s global managing director, said the accreditation reinforced the company’s ongoing commitment to maintaining its high standard of HSE practices in its facilities around the world.

“In applying for this UK accreditation, which also looked at our safety track record, we wanted to show our clients that we take our health and safety processes very seriously and our commitment to always looking to improve these goes beyond what is required by mandatory compliance.

“This is a mark of quality which we are very proud to have gained, and the benefit to clients is that they know they are working with a contractor recognised for its high safety standards. Perhaps more importantly, however, it is a commitment to our staff that health and safety will always be our priority.”

John Kinge, technical director of safecontractor, said: “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.

“More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Petrasco has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.”
