BUSINESSES are being urged to get involved in the future of golf tourism in Scotland with a series of free seminars across the country.
Throughout November, the Driving Forward Together seminars will look at how the public and private sectors can work together to ensure Scotland is the world’s leading golf destination.
Inverness is hosting the Highlands and Islands seminar on Wednesday 20 November at the Kingsmills Hotel and Kingsclub. It is open to anyone committed to playing a part in growing Scotland’s golf tourism market share.
The seminars will highlight the new Scottish Golf Tourism Development Strategy and to continue the discussion about what we can do together to promote golf tourism in Scotland.
‘Driving Forward Together’ is the first national golf tourism strategy and has been developed by both the golf tourism industry and the public sector working in partnership for the benefit of golf tourism businesses in Scotland. Launched in September, its ambition is for Scotland ‘to be the world’s leading golfing destination by 2020′.
Audrey Maclennan, senior development manager for Tourism at Highlands and Islands Enterprise, said: “With the success of the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart Golf Links over the past three years and the focus which will be on Scotland in 2014 with the Ryder Cup and Commonwealth Games, now is the time for the Highlands and Islands to prepare.
“This seminar will have presentations from HIE’s Digital and International teams as well as information on marketing activity and business support initiatives. As Team Scotland, this is about the country working together in unity to promote Scotland as the leading golf tourism destination in the world. We strongly encourage any business with an interest in golf tourism to come along.”
