Media Release: Local builders merchant helping elderly residents this winter

GPH-salt

AN award-winning builders merchant is giving elderly residents across the North-east a helping hand this winter.

GPH Builders Merchants is offering pensioners in Westhill and Inverurie free bags of salt to enable them to keep their pathways clear of ice as temperatures continue to plummet.

The free bags are limited to one per household and can be collected from either the Westhill or Inverurie branch of GPH.

On collection, residents will be required to show a form of ID to prove how old they are and that they live in the local area

Staff will also be on hand to give advice on how to spread the salt on paths and driveways to ensure ice melts thoroughly.

Sales and marketing director for GPH, Nikki Mortimer, said: “As a local business, we like to give something back to the community and with experts forecasting one of the worst winters since 2010, we feel helping those in their golden years prepare for the harsh weather is important.

“Some of our older generation often get caught out during the winter months, and some can’t make it out of their houses during the icy conditions as their paths are so slippery, so the salt will help prepare their paths and driveways.”
