A LEADING North-east law firm has shown its commitment to charity by raising a five-figure sum for various organisations during 2013.

Throughout the year, staff from Stronachs LLP, which is based in Aberdeen and Inverness, participated in a number of fundraising initiatives in support of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy.

The law firm elected to raise funds for a number of charities including Roxburgh House, Maggie’s and the Willows Animal Sanctuary.

Fundraising activities included a Grand National sweep stake, dress down day, and a quiz night. A charity coin trail was also set up to create a virtual trail of two pence coins from Stronachs’ offices on Albyn Place to Roxburgh House in the city’s Ashgrove area.

Energetic members of staff donned their running shoes to participate in a number of runs throughout the North-east and the Highlands, including the Garioch 10k, Baker Hughes 10k, Moray marathon, Crathes half-Marathon, and Loch Ness Marathon.

Seven members of staff – including Stronachs’ partners, Neil Forbes, Bobby McDonald, Malcolm Donald and Colin Sandilands – trainees, Alex Smith and Angus Willis, and marketing manager, Judi Taylor, also took part in the annual Ride the North cycle challenge.

The team cycled a grueling 164 miles over two days in name of charity.

In line with the company’s CSR policy, attendees at Employment Law Unit seminars were also asked to make a charitable donation in place of a delegate fee.

Marketing manager, Judi Taylor, said: “Stronachs is committed to giving something back to charity and the community.

“Although the firm is extremely busy throughout the year, staff have displayed their commitment and have worked hard to raise money for charity. The various fundraising initiatives have been a fantastic way for staff of all levels to meet on a social level, and display fantastic teamwork.

“We are already looking ahead to the new year, and have reserved spaces for the Ride the North challenge and expect our team to grow in size compared to last year’s group.”
