THE driving force behind the development of the new Tain Health Centre has welcomed the positive feedback from locals after it officially handed over the building to NHS Highland.

Hub North Scotland, the organisation behind the planning, procurement and delivery of community-based infrastructure projects across the north of Scotland, presented the building to its new tenants against a backdrop of praise after locals were invited to visit the new facility for the first time.

The centre, which has been equipped with GP services, dental services and integrated community team facilities, will provide a wide range of health and social care services and forms part of a unique, three health centre bundle being delivered by hub North, worth a total of £13.2million.

Miller Construction was appointed main contractors for all three projects, which include new health centres in Forres, Moray and in Woodside, Aberdeen.

Angus Macfarlane, chief executive of hub North Scotland, has reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to overseeing the development of facilities that will service the communities that they are located in.

He said: “Hub North’s role in the Tain project has very much centred around the project planning and construction stages but like every stakeholder, we take a real satisfaction in seeing the local community beginning to see the benefits that such projects can bring to the areas they will be operating in.

“Our role is to continue to provide fantastic facilities in the heart of communities throughout Scotland and we know from this initial feedback that this health centre will be warmly received by the people of Tain and the surrounding area.

“The project itself is a working example of how partnerships can help these facilities come to fruition and we’re delighted to hand the keys of the building over to NHS Highlands as we look forward to continuing our relationship with the organisation in the months and years ahead.”

Hub North Scotland comprises Alba Community Partnerships, Scottish Futures Trust and 16 Northern Territory Partners, working with local suppliers and contractors to deliver quality buildings and services.

The organisation has a £435m development pipeline for the next ten years, with 14 developments worth £300m already underway. Further information can be found at www.scottishfuturestrust.org.uk and www.hubnorthscotland.co.uk
