THE Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns is hosting free carpet curling sessions on Monday 7th July till Thursday 10th July.

One of the popular mall’s series of free entertainment activities as part of Scotland’s summer of sport running from Mondays through to Thursdays from 12pm till 4pm for six weeks, carpet curling offers all the competitiveness and fun of curling without the ice.

Michelle McCabe, Centre Manager at The Avenue, said: “Given the recent successes of our curling team at the Winter Olympics, curling is more popular than ever before. Carpet curling is a great way to introduce kids to the sport – and gives children a great opportunity to take on their parents and win!”

The Avenue’s series of free weekly themed summer entertainment events run Monday to Thursday from 12pm till 4pm.

Carpet curling is followed by Glasgow Science Centre Fit Labs in the mall from Monday 14th to Thursday 17th  July.

The second half of the school summer holidays will see a series of fun free events taking place at the Avenue’s new public realm space on Ayr Road. A crazy golf course offers fun for all the family to compete against each other from Monday 21st through to Thursday 24th July followed by donkey rides on the week beginning Monday 28th July till Thursday 31st July.

The final week of free summer fun culminates with an al fresco funzone, including four bed trampoline, slide, softplay and featuring the Irn Bru bus and other activities with AG Barr, from Monday 4th till Thursday 7th August.
