Media Release: Aberdeen’s premier ice hockey team needs you

A PREMIER Aberdeen Ice Hockey Club is urging the public to support their favourite player.

The Aberdeen Lynx Ice Hockey Club, which is the second most backed sporting team in Aberdeen, is asking its fans to vote for the Lynx’s player of the year.

Ice hockey fans of all ages can vote for the team member who they believe deserves to win the accolade for the 2013 – 2014 season.

Other awards include the most valuable player, most improved player, the fans player and the clubman of the year.

The winner of the prestigious award will be announced at the Lynx’s inaugural awards dinner dance, which is being held on Friday, 16 August 2014 at the Hilton Aberdeen Treetops Hotel.

Vice-chair of Aberdeen Ice Hockey Club, John Colley, said: “It’s really important to the team that we get the public involved in this award ceremony. The support the team gets week in week out at the games from our fans is phenomenal and they are a strong support system for them.

“The team is always pushing themselves to make the fans proud, so it’s important to the team that it is the public, who get the final say in who they feel deserves this fantastic award.”

Voting for the player of the year award will close on the 15 August 2014, the night before the inaugural awards dinner dance.
