A LEADING North-east law firm played host to a delegation of high-ranking Mozambican politicians and officials during a recent visit to Aberdeen.
The group met with Stronachs LLP Partner David Forfar (Oil & Gas Africa) at the company’s offices on Albyn Place, Aberdeen, to learn about various aspects of the oil and gas industry and its supporting services and infrastructure.
The Mozambican delegation, which included Mozambique Minister of State Administration, Mrs Carmelita Namashulua, Governor of Cabo Delgado Province, Dr Abduz Razak and Mayor of Pemba City Mr Tagir Carimo, and other officials, were in Aberdeen at the invitation of Aberdeen Council.
Stronachs hosted a session on oil and gas contracting with Professor Alex Kemp leading the discussion.
The delegation was keen to make contacts to help them with development of local service provision for the gas projects and to learn about training and education in the sector.
Mr Forfar said: “Mozambique has been launched to the head of the pack for global gas discoveries.
“Areas one and four in which Eni and Anadarko hold stakes has around 180tcf off gas in the waters of Cabo Delgado Province. There is also an on-shore gas discover in the Province.
“Many businesses in Aberdeen are also keen to establish contacts with Mozambique and forging links on the ground is crucial.
“In building these relationships with Ministers and key politicians in Cabo Delgado, we will be able to assist clients to make informed decisions about business investments.”
Mr Forfar has been invited to Pemba in September by Governor Razak and Mayor Carimo, where he will meet with local business owners and to visit the LNG site and supporting projects.
