“The specialist organics firm, which won the Waste and Resources award at the2011 VIBES, currently processes more than 60,000 tonnes of organic waste per year at its award-winning facility, developing BSI accredited soil improver for agriculture and horticulture use.

“Each bespoke low emission vehicle enables the company to collect an additional 2,000 tonnes of waste per year.

“To reduce the environmental impact of its vehicles, Keenan’s dedicated transport and logistics manager oversees the operation of the fleet of lorries and drivers at the £8million award-winning site.”

Technical director of Keenan Recycling, Gregor Keenan, said: “Keenan Recycling is committed to helping SMEs and other businesses reduce and recycle more waste and recently signed up to Scotland’s Resource Sector Commitment; a Scottish Government-backed initiative designed to set consistent standards for business waste collections and to help deliver the country’s zero waste targets.

Achieving zero waste targets in Scotland is essential and will bring real environmental and economic benefits, and it is important to remember we all have a part to play.

“Being shortlisted in two categories is a great accreditation for the business and a great boost for our staff.”
