Media Release: Aberdein Considine achieves ISO 27001:2013 certification

LEADING legal firm, Aberdein Considine, has had its commitment to high standards of information security across all of its practice areas and locations recognised with a national accreditation.

The firm has achieved the prestigious ISO 27001:2013 certification which acknowledges the implementation of robust procedures and processes relating to information security management after it recently underwent a comprehensive independent audit of its systems.

Says a spokesperson: “The certification standards set out a strict framework for managing the security of assets, including financial information, intellectual property, employee details and information entrusted to an organisation by third parties.

“The firm is one of a very select group of law firms in Scotland to attain certification and follows accreditation as Investors in People last year.”

Jacqueline Law, a corporate partner at Aberdein Considine, has welcomed the certification and believes it is reward to the high importance placed by the firm on the security of its own and its clients’ information.

She said: “The risk to data, whether it is through theft, malicious intent or accident, increases in tandem with the growing use of the internet and new technologies to process what can be highly confidential information and it is an area that the firm stresses a great importance upon.

“To achieve ISO 27001:2013 certification – one of only a handful of law firms in Scotland to do so – is incredibly pleasing and recognises our commitment to high standards of information asset security.

“The threat to sensitive data is one that a law firm cannot take lightly but our clients can take confidence from this certification.”

Established in 1981, Aberdein Considine is a national law firm. A broadly-based practice, it offers corporate and private clients a complete legal, property and financial professional advisory service.

The firm has 18 offices across Scotland, employs nearly 400 staff and recently recorded a turnover of £19 million.
