SOME of the world’s top energy experts have been announced as guest speakers at an oil and gas conference and exhibition in Israel later this year.

Universal Oil & Gas 2014 (UOG 2014) aims to be the largest event of its type to date in Israel, creating a global platform for collaboration, partnership and networking opportunities in the emerging Israeli oil and gas industry.

The event, which is set for 18-20 November at the David Dead Sea Resort in Ein Bokek in Israel, has recently added Avri Shefler, CEO of Bipol Energy Ltd., to its speaker roster.  Shefler has been involved with the Israeli offshore gas industry since its inception, including Gaza Marine and the INGL offshore transmission pipeline and facilities.

Shefler will be joined by Dan Hacohen, widely regarded as one of Israel’s leading legal experts in the energy sector with over 25 years experience in energy projects and Israel’s former Minister of Energy, Joseph Partizky who has also established International Pipes in Houston, which has sold in excess of $700m worth of products.

Also amongst the line-up will be Barry Smitherman, chair of the Texas Railroad Commission, which oversees the oil, natural gas, coal mining, intrastate pipeline and gas utility distribution industries in Texas. Joining Barry at UOG 2014, as well as numerous other expert speakers, will be GE Oil & Gas’ marketing director, Benjamin Thoma, who has over a decade of experience across Russia, North Africa, Israel, Turkey and Europe.

UOG 2014 will welcome delegations from Texas, Aberdeen, Denmark, Russia as well as a number of other oil hubs in a unique offering at the Dead Sea location in Israel.

Delegates at UOG 2014 will have the opportunity to investigate game-changing onshore and offshore opportunities in the region and to network with block-license holders, international experts, government officials and senior executives in the Eastern-Mediterranean oil and gas industry.

Chief operating officer of UOG 2014, Joshua Beagelman, tells us more about this unique opportunity for delegates to learn about exploration opportunities for the international market in Israel and how to get involved:

“We are excited to bring together some of the global oil hubs to Israel for the first time to encourage participation in the region’s huge oil and gas opportunities. Delegates attending will have a unique chance to meet with government officials, local players as well international players looking to enter Israel’s emerging oil and gas market.”

Chair of the Association of Oil and Gas Exploration Industries, Uri Aldubi, who is also speaking at the event said:

“The Israeli energy revolution has already begun, but in order to complete it, it needs investment and partnership with international energy companies.”

Recent offshore discoveries, the production and further potential of natural gas and the onshore potential of oil shale reserves show that Israel is fast becoming a leading energy hub.

UOG 2014 will take place 18-20 November at the David Dead Sea Resort Hotel. To view the full list of speakers please visit www.universaloilgas.com/speakers
