LOCAL solicitors, Miller Hendry, have announced they will be taking part in Will Aid’s Make A Will Month this November after being crowned one of the top UK fundraisers for the national campaign in 2013.

Last year, Miller Hendry proved that where there is a Will, there is a way by raising £11,397.50 for the Will Aid charities in their winter 2013 campaign. This was the second highest fundraiser for Will Aid in Scotland and the 6th highest in the UK overall, demonstrating the considerable efforts of the firm to raise lots of cash for the cause.

Will Aid runs every year during November and participating solicitors waive their fees for drawing up a basic Will, instead inviting their clients to show their goodwill and donate to the Will Aid group of charities.

The team at Miller Hendry are hoping to match their fundraising achievements this year and hopefully add to their fundraising total. They have raised well over £50,000 in total in the several years since the partnership with Will Aid began.

Ernie Boath, partner and head of Private Client Department, said:

“Miller Hendry are passionate about this cause as well as encouraging people to seriously think about making a Will and protecting their loved ones’ future while at the same time raising money to support the work of the Will Aid group of charities.

Many people in Scotland die every year without ever making a Will, not realising the substantial difficulties they could be creating for their family at a time when they should have the time and space to grieve. It’s a very small price to pay for peace of mind and is the only way to put you in control of your estate after death. Also, the fact that in November all of the money goes to such great causes is all the more reason to do it now.”

The suggested minimum donation is £95 for a single Will and £150 for a pair of Wills. The money raised will be shared by the nine Will Aid charities and is used to transform the lives of people in the UK and around the world.

The Will Aid charities are: ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, Sightsavers, SCIAF (Scotland) and Trocaire (N.Ireland).
