SCOTLAND’S premier sound and light event, The Enchanted Forest, is celebrating after adding another accolade to its long list of successes after winning the prestigious Best Event or Festival at the National Final of the Scottish Thistle Awards in Glasgow last night.

This national award comes after winning the regional category last November.

This latest achievement is the icing on the cake for the hit show with a record breaking number of visitors last year as well as winning Best Cultural Event for the third time in four years at 2014’s Scottish Event Awards.

Over 46,000 people travelled to Faskally Wood near Pitlochry last October to enjoy last year’s spectacular show, elemental, which ran for three weeks, reinforcing the event’s position as a major driver of tourism for Scotland.

The event’s international profile has catapulted the Victorian town of Pitlochry onto an international stage in the 13 years since the event launched and press coverage around the globe attracts visitors from around the world to the sound and light spectacle which humbly has its roots firmly planted in the nearby forest of Faskally Wood.

Derek Allan, producer of The Enchanted Forest commented:

“The entire Enchanted Forest team are delighted to receive this prestigious Scottish Thistle Award at the National Final.

“Every year, The Enchanted Forest continues to grow and grow and we are very proud of the continued success of the event and that so many people travel up to Highland Perthshire to experience our sound and light show.

“Receiving an award like this really highlights the dedication of the people involved in making the Forest come to life every year.”

Derek continued:

“Planning is now under way for 2015’s show and we are looking forward to welcoming even more people to Faskally Wood this October to enjoy the show. We are expecting to see 50,000 people visiting Highland Perthshire to walk through The Enchanted Forest this year.”

After smashing box office records for the event in 2014, The Enchanted Forest has extended its run from 23 nights to 30 nights this year, opening up an additional 5,000 tickets to meet the increasing demand.  This year’s show will launch to the public on October 2nd and will run every night until November 1st.

Tickets for this year’s show will go on sale in June. To receive notifications about ticket sales or for any further information visit www.enchantedforest.org.uk
