THE Enchanted Forest Community Trust, organisers of the award-winning sound and light show, has awarded almost £11,000 to a range of local projects in Highland Perthshire, including a number of youth projects.
Says a spokesperson: “Key criteria for funding is that the project demonstrates a tangible benefit to the local area.”
The Community Trust have doubled the fund total in 2015, the second year the opportunity has been available to local projects, and has seen an increase in the number of organisations applying and benefitting.
Last year, 14 funding recipients were chosen; this year, 23 recipients have been selected.
Successful applications for funding support included music books for the Aberfeldy Community Choir, new tents for Pitlochry’s Scout group and even an inflatable horse for Pegasus Vaulting, a local equestrian club.
Graham Brown, chair of The Enchanted Forest Community Trust, commented:
“After another incredibly successful year for The Enchanted Forest with more people visiting Highland Perthshire to enjoy the event than ever before, it has been fantastic to be able to spread the impact of the event and offer funding to such a wide-reaching range of projects in the local community again.
“We are looking forward to following up with the funding recipients later this year to see how the money has been put to use and benefitted the area.”
This year, The Enchanted Forest has extended its run from 23 to 30 nights, running throughout October 2015, and will release an additional 5,000 tickets to meet the increasing demand, launching to the public on October 2nd.
Organisers are expecting to welcome 50,000 visitors to Highland Perthshire this autumn, over 90 per cent of whom area attracted to the area because of the show.
