PACKING her set with punchlines, Diane Spencer, the hilarious comedian and gifted storyteller, and a ‘mouth like a sailor’, will headline Gilded Balloon Comedy at Drygate on Friday 17 April 2015.

Joining Diane on the Glasgow stage will be the manic and energetic, Kevin Shepherd; the punchy and vivacious Billy Kirkwood; and compere for the night, Ray Bradshaw; one of the funniest and most dependable acts on the Scottish comedy scene.

Says a spokesperson: “Since 2010, Diane Spencer has grabbed the comedy world ‘by the balls’ unleashing a ‘tsunami of filth’ upon her audiences, slicing her way through social boundaries with a sword of breath-taking honesty.”

She has performed all over the world from Bahrain to Belfast, and has garnered awards, nominations and critical acclaim for her unique mix of charming demeanor and edgy and dark stand-up comedy.

“She is a flame-haired, filth-firing force of nature, tossing the audience from open-mouthed incredulity to tear-filled guffaws.” – Sunday Express

“…her ‘inappropriate’ material, juxtaposed with her posh girl delivery, makes her a deviant Jane Asher.” – Chortle

Drygate audiences are in for a special treat as Diane, who is currently previewing her new show for the Edinburgh Fringe – ‘Diane Spencer: Power Tool’, may well be trying out some of her new material on the Glaswegian comedy afficiandados.

This new show, with a subtitle of ‘Love, Money and DIY’, is based on Diane’s real-life experiences of 2014, when she was trying to find/make a dream house, despite being unable to afford it, and absolutely crap at DIY.

With his friendly face and manic energy comedian, writer, and director, Kevin Shepherd, is a popular performer on the UK circuit, both with audiences and fellow comedians alike.

He has supported such greats as Mickly Flanagan and Ivan Brackenbury.

Kevin is a also successful director and has worked on shows with Tom Binns, Zoe Lyons, Pierre Novellie, Milo McCabe and John Hastings. He recently body doubled for Ralph Fiennes as Voldermort in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

“Very funny. Warm, friendly and fun to watch.” – Jason Manford

Billy Kirkwood is guaranteed to unleash a wave of frantically funny comedic nonsense, delivering punchy comic rhythms and a dynamic on-stage presence that sweeps all along with him.

Amongst other things his breezy set is likely to take on life, love, wrestling, French babies, fatherhood and fights with monkeys

“Undeniably funny, unspeakably juvenile.” – The Scotsman

Hailing from Glasgow, Ray Bradshaw, compere for this Gilded Balloon Comedy at Drygate gig, is one of the funniest and most dependable acts on the Scottish comedy scene.

A double Scottish Comedian of The Year Finalist, Ray has travelled the length and breadth of the country telling jokes to anyone that will listen and has produced stand-out festival performances at T in the Park and RockNess.

“Affable Glaswegian Ray Bradshaw compered and he instantly had the busy venue in stitches.” - Edinburgh Evening News

Gilded Balloon Comedy at Drygate brings together the very best craft beer, fearless food for the soul and strong intelligent comedy with a quality blend of up and coming comedians and the finest established comics in an intimate comedy club.
