Festival of Marketing to be staged in Edinburgh

THE marketing industry is to take centre stage at a brand new festival in Edinburgh this year, as part of the city’s world-famous festival line-up.

Say the organisers of the Edinburgh International Marketing Festival: “[It] will provide a platform to showcase the best of this dynamic discipline through a series of events, exhibitions, discussions and debates. Aimed at industry professionals, students and members of the public alike, the festival will run across the city throughout August with an emphasis on the 23rd and 24th of the month.”

The organisers continue: “A number of key events are already confirmed including exhibitions of work by award-winning creative talents, debates on emerging themes and industry insights from a global point of view. Festival organisers are now inviting submissions to the programme from agencies, brands and industry bodies.”

Adds festival project director, Lis Faulkner: “We describe the festival as a ‘sum of parts’, a series of topical and inspiring events, wide ranging in its content; a celebration of what the industry has to offer. We are offering organisations an opportunity to get close to industry decision-makers and key business idols.

“In addition, we will provide guidance and support on the logistics of running their event and market it to an international audience through our programme, website and a sustained media campaign.”

Continues festival director, Graeme Atha: “We believe the time is right to celebrate the art and craft of marketing and marketing communications as a central and dynamic aspect of both business and culture. Where better to showcase this than as part of the world’s biggest and best arts festival.”
